A passionate Knit textiles R&D Design Engineer, with an inquisitive creative mindset. Excited to re-shape the future of functional materials using sustainable innovations, such as seamless 3-D knitting techniques to simplify manufacturing and reduce costs for the e-Health, Automotive / Aerospace composites arenas. Textile materials & product expert with over 35+ years’ experience, driving cutting-edge research and product development programs for prestigious silicone valley start-ups to global apparel companies such as Nike, Levi Strauss and The North Face. Now, I want to apply my skills and knowledge to the advanced materials arena including lightweight 3-D knit shaped composites with unimaginable benefits, using sustainable raw materials. Initiated the first fore into smart e-textiles/ smart jacket 20 years ago with the project \'Nomad\' concept Levis/Phillips and later commercialized Levis/Google garment 2017. Breadth of knowledge and experience includes: ideation of new material concepts through to garment development (size-fit-make) and international sourcing. Hands-on experience setting up, programing and running flat bed and circular production knitting machines. Constantly striving to simply manufacturing by eliminating waste & shortening leadtimes through hard science and advanced manufacturing techniques. This includes highly engineered 3-D knit shaped materials to reduce weight and post manufacturing handling = lower cost/unit.
