Experience

  1. Deputy Nde Program Manager for Osma, Nasa Hq, Washington Dc Research and Development Physicist (Nde)

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration

    Mar 2010 — Present

Awarded ARMD research grant-During the course of this grant we will be exploring the use on nano-materials to produce visible light from x-rays. This could represent a significant change in the way that x-ray imaging is done. •Lead Developer at LaRC for Background Oriented Schlieren Imaging-The goal of this research is to provide a real-time implementation of this type of imaging and CUDA (GPU) and the newer Intel Phi will also be explored as massively parallel architectures-Task required learning new code, coding methodologies and complex equations and is ongoing-It is hoped that using schlieren can provide a feedback and control to a drone aircraft in order to ride the trailing vorticity during formation flight.•SBIR Lead Manager for Spaceflight Structural Sensor Systems and NDE-The international space station will fly past the design life of the vehicle. Combine with the increasing amount of in orbit debris and future deep space missions the need for in flight damage assessment is increasing. In this program I am guiding companies and technologies to a usable in flight ready status.•Lead Engineer for Develop of Inspection for Light Weight Composite Payload Shroud-Development of scalable methods for inspection of large scale composite material intended for inclusion into payload shroud for future NASA vehicles-Implementation of a high speed eigenvector based reduction algorithm of thermographic images for ease of inspection.•Lead NESC Engineer for Agency Assessments-Currently leading digital radiography assessment for Orion-During the tanking of ET-137 a substructure stinger tore loose and liberated a section of SOFI foam from the structure.•Electron Beam Wield Fabrication Visualization and Feedback-This program is targeting an electron beam wielder that uses a closed loop feedback system that will eventually be adapted for part fabrication aboard the international space station.
