About Eric Norberg

In my 25 year career at Microsoft I have served in a variety of different roles. These collective experiences have afforded me the opportunity to develop deep and unique subject matter expertise across various technical and leadership verticals. Today I serve as a Principal Service Engineer within M365 and have been charged with helping to re-architect and redefine what the online support experience means to Microsoft\'s most strategic of customers. I am responsible for representing M365 engineering and for owning the customer connection to all M365 workload teams. Success in this area is accomplished by effectively responding to customer facing questions, concerns, and feature requests, safeguarding that these items will always be actioned effectively. Prior to joining the Strategic Support vertical in 2019 I served as a Senior Security Engineer in M365. My core responsibilities were to drive improvements in analysis, monitoring coverage, and incident response. Daily actions involved responding to sophisticated threats based upon information provided via a wide array of sources. I was also tasked with driving overall security enhancements at the application, host, infrastructure, and architecture levels to improve our detection, response, and remediation capabilities. To drive meaningful impact required the ability to coordinate actions across a broad community of internal and external business partners. In addition, my case work often intersected with various law enforcement agencies which would include the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and Department of Justice.Prior to joining Office 365 I served as an Engineering Lead in Microsoft’s Business Productivity Online Services (BPOS) organization. During my tenure in BPOS I drove several key projects focused on service improvement. A key project of note would include the authoring, design, testing, and production execution of the service side Disaster Recovery plan. Many of my technical designs were deployed globally and were responsible for the protection of millions of mailboxes prior to service deprecation. On the personal side I have been recognized as a “Microsoft Certified Master” on both Exchange 2010 and 2013. I have been a contributing author to various Microsoft product group endorsed blogs. I have been responsible for the staffing of global teams at MSFT and have presented at several Microsoft technical conferences.
