About Eric Miller
I collaborate and partner with architects and engineers to support the design build process towards net zero buildings. My focus is integrated design, building science, and high performance thermal envelope technology. It started as kid building tree houses, then odd jobs in construction, then framing, carpentry, concrete formwork, excavation, and a geology degree. I didn\'t really know it at the time, but when I designed and built my first insulated concrete form house in Park City, Utah (1997), I unearthed my purpose on the planet; to help people build better buildings. I initiated an integrated design/green building construction trade school curriculum for high school students in North County San Diego, and led teams of students through the process of retrofitting homes for energy/water conservation. I\'m passionate, driven, and fulfilled in my field. As a result, I love to collaborate, design, and deliver the end product. After graduating from Amherst College and majoring in Geology, I focused on environmental earth science and groundwater consulting. This scientific experience, coupled with my lifelong interest in construction, guided me to a concentration in integrated design and energy efficient construction. Now, after 15 years in residential construction finance, a lifetime of construction projects, and a consistent commitment to learning about the science of the built environment, I support architects, builders and owners in creating the ultimate building enclosure for high performance buildings and net zero projects.
