WORK HISTORY
Jedi Software Engineer Software Engineer Iv @UCAR - The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research
Boulder, CO, US
Four years ago, I joined the Infrastructure Team at the Joint Center for Satellite Data Assimilation (JCSDA) and was selected to spearhead a new architectural vision for data infrastructure services for their flagship data assimilation system, Joint Effort for Data assimilation Integration (JEDI). As the innovation center for satellite data assimilation for the US Federal Government, JCSDA is tasked with rapidly developing and deploying reusable software applications and scalable services for NASA, NOAA, US Navy, and US Air Force. Starting from a blank slate, I led a talented, cross-discipline group of data assimilation scientists and software engineers, as well as mentored staff members from NASA’s Global Modeling and Assimilation Office, to design, develop, and deploy the Research Repository for Data and Diagnostics (R2D2). R2D2’s 24/7 cloud-based REST service, intuitive Python API, and suite of distributed petabyte-scale data stores provide JEDI with high performance access to the massive amount of data required for full resolution weather forecasts. In fact, R2D2 is currently being installed as the production weather forecast database service for NASA and US Air Force, while JEDI is now used operationally by the Weather Company.
