ABOUT ERICK ROA

With over 17 years of experience in the education and nonprofit sector, I bring a deep commitment to building high-performing, equity-centered organizations where culture fuels strategy. As Chief Operating Officer at Making Waves Education Foundation, I lead cross-functional teams spanning strategy, talent, culture, IT, and facilities, ensuring our operations align with our mission to transform educational outcomes for underserved communities.Throughout my career, I’ve led major organizational transformations as a consultant, fractional executive, and senior leader. I’ve overhauled legacy systems, implemented modern tools like Lattice and Greenhouse to improve efficiency and accuracy, and redesigned strategic planning processes to bring clarity and momentum to multi-year goals. In my current role, I helped drive a +50 eNPS culture shift by leading with transparency, boldness, and a values-rooted equity lens.I’m known for leading with clarity and trust. I believe culture isn’t a byproduct of success. My approach centers on building the right teams, creating the conditions for them to thrive, and translating values into systems that scale.I’m continually exploring how strategy, culture, and equity intersect to drive long-term organizational success, and I love learning alongside other leaders pushing this work forward.
