About Erick Jacobsen

As a first generation college student, I have a keen awareness of the privilege that comes with receiving an education – as well as the burden that my family and I must shoulder to achieve its promise. As a political science student, though, I understand the importance of using this privilege to improve the lives of others, especially those who have faced barriers like I have, and worse. In a world where climate change, bigotry, and flawed institutions perpetuate generations of harm, the need for change is as strong as ever. In joining the student government, I have pushed for everything from sustainability education and free exam materials to labor organizing and LGBTQIA+ rights, but I understand there\'s more to lasting change than a single student voice. I want to be a part of something bigger than myself and take part in organizing for human rights within my community and beyond.
