Over 25 years in the space, aerospace & defense, aviation, automotive, transportation and satellite telecommunications sectors as a consultant, executive and board member. A focus on transformative business strategies, new business growth and innovation, and on developing and executing complex business transformations to unlock growth, especially in engineering- and technology-centric environments.Particular expertise in growing the space economy and in working with companies in disruptive markets. A track record of scaling early-stage enterprises and driving business and operating model breakthroughs with existing companies and government agencies. A portion of the last years working across sectors on transportation electrification and the supporting capabilities required for transition from ICE to EV, electrification of fleets, connected vehicle ecosystem development, and advanced air mobility.A business leader, board member and volunteer with a deep passion for addressing the toughest business building and existing enterprise challenges by bringing together disparate capabilities to create breakthrough teams and outcomes - from start-up to scaling to transformation. Specialties include corporate and market strategy, technology strategy and operating model, enterprise and digital transformation, M&A and post-merger integration, innovation and new business building. As former planetary scientist, worked on planetary science missions in conjunction with NASA, CNES and other agencies. Served with the science teams on Phobos II, Galileo and Clementine 1, specializing in visible and near-infrared remote quantitative spectroscopy. Holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. from Brown University in Geological and Planetary Sciences, and a B.A. from Dartmouth College in Earth Sciences, Physics and Astronomy.Has been quoted in Defense News, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, National Defense, and Transport Dive and is the author of peer-reviewed papers that have appeared in Science, The Journal of Geophysical Research and Icarus. Served on the board of The National Space Society and The Galapagos Conservancy, the single largest source of private funding dedicated to the conservation of the Galapagos Archipelago, and is currently on the board of the Egan Maritime Institute.
