Having been bitten by the ski bug, and looking for a way to get more time on the slopes; I began teaching snowboarding at Blue Hills Ski Area. This was one of my first real jobs and provided me with a number of valuable experiences. Most notably the opportunity to learn more about how to most effectively relate to someone challenging themselves to try something new & outside their comfort zone. During my time at Blue Hills Ski Area I got involved with the American Association of Snowboard Instructors. AASI expanded even further the effectiveness I had working with our clients. It also taught me a lot about different learning styles. In my later years at Blue Hills I was promoted to Snowboard Program Coordinator where I managed staffing and the training program for the snowboarding department.
