   As the Government Experience (GX) Development Manager (formerly Application Development Manager,) I am responsible for the day-to-day activities and mentorship of two teams that are devoted to enhancing the Government Experience (GX). The UI/UX, Software Engineering, and Digital Platforms teams roll up into the Government Experience Foundry, or GX Foundry, inside of the Franklin County Data Center (FCDC). The first two of these fall under me.The core of a better Government Experience starts with being service-oriented towards the residents of Franklin County. We are dedicated to getting people the information and services they need as efficiently as possible. We are working towards unifying and coordinating these service offerings together into a one-stop shop for residents.Even though my background is in traditional software development, it is important to acknowledge that new greenfield development is not always the right answer. Before taking on any new effort, we always work with our partners to determine the right solution via a \"Buy vs. Build\" analysis.Our Software Engineering team utilizes a technology stack that I have created to be both modern and practical. We\'re not going to learn every new JavaScript framework that comes out every three months. We start with a core of Microsoft tools such as.NET, but we also believe in the flexibility of more tried-and-true-yet-modern frameworks such as React.js. We work together to determine coding standards, vastly improving efficiency. We utilize DevOps-positive tools such as GitHub Enterprise and Azure DevOps in order to implement CI/CD. The UI/UX team strives to create designs and experiences that bring life to government. The result has been many dozens of modern, cutting-edge, responsive and accessible websites, applications, and real-world artifacts for over 40 county agencies.
