As the associate director of editorial content at AILEY, I oversee content creation and long-term strategy and planning for social media, email marketing, and the company website. I manage the digital content to ensure brand cohesiveness across all platforms. My role works closely with the director of marketing and all departments across the organization to develop and plan content strategies for AILEY as a whole including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey II, The Ailey School, Ailey Extension, Ailey Arts In Education & Community Programs, and fundraising. I rely on my team of a social media manager, social media coordinators, and a copywriter, along with the rest of my marketing colleagues, to meet the needs of each department whether it’s selling tickets, increasing enrollment, or promoting workshops open to the public. As the editorial content manager, I work to find ways of cross-collaborating across the organization so that the marketing team supports every aspect of the organization internally and externally. Another primary task I work on is building out content calendars and project management trackers to ensure a streamlined production process. I regularly meet with every division to understand their needs and goals, which allows me to see where cross-departmental collaboration can happen, and ensure I’m creating digital content calendars that serve their needs and the needs of our audience.
