As executive editor at Connecticut Public, the statewide NPR and PBS service, I lead the local newsroom, including editors, reporters, producers and newscasters. I oversee our local news efforts, including radio, digital and television platforms. I also play a key role in newsroom hiring - identifying, recruiting and interviewing prospective team members. During my first year, we earned a national Edward R. Murrow Award for our in-depth exploration of 10 years since the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. We\'ve also earned regional Murrow Awards for Overall Excellence in 2023 and 2024. In my first year, I focused on prioritizing and improving our digital news report, injecting urgency and creativity in our online storytelling. I worked to stabilize and streamline our daily news workflow. I\'ve expanded our editing team so that team members have more time with editors to create more meaningful work. I\'ve also worked to improve collaboration and build connections between the newsroom and other units within the Connecticut Public content team. During my second and third years, I\'ve been emphasizing in-depth reporting and storytelling and focusing on injecting stronger audio and writing into our daily stories and feature work.
