About Eric Vonberg

I am a Fresno Boomeranger having grown up in Fresno, graduating from Bullard High School in 1983. I left Fresno to earn a BA in Social Ecology from UC Irvine and then a Masters in Regional Planning from UMASS Amherst, which included a year in Germany at the University of Hannover developing a Landscape Plan for the town of Tripkau, located just north of the Elbe River in former East Germany. I returned to Fresno in the Fall of 1992 to put my Masters in Regional Planning to good use here in the San Joaquin Valley.I have 30 years of experience in urban/regional planning, including public outreach, environmental, transportation, land use planning at the local, county, and state level. My proven track record in project delivery of NEPA/CEQA, and planning projects for Rincon, URS, Caltrans, and FHWA has resulted in projects getting built. Working for the City of Fresno, I assisted in getting their General Plan across the finish line, and effectively and efficiently managed the Fresno County Planning Commission and Current Planning/Environmental Section for Fresno County\'s Development Services Division of their Public Works and Planning Department. I am now seven years back in the consulting world working for Rincon Consultants managing their Fresno Office and working as a contract planner for several cities.I have been able to effectively meld my technical expertise in land use, transportation, and environmental planning with my understanding and experience in engaging the public, for small to large public projects and forums, to develop and execute effective public outreach programs that provide accurate and intelligent input that exceed CEQA/NEPA requirements, including Environmental Justice and community outreach requirements. The key to effectively engaging with the public is to always be fair, honest, and available. This what I always strive for in preparing strong, accurate, and effective environmental and planning documents for both public and private clients.On winter weekends you can find me up at China Peak in my orange jacket playing ski instructor.
