ABOUT ERIC STAIGER

With more than thirty years of progressive leadership in correctional administration, I bring a deep commitment to operational excellence, accountability, and the human side of public safety. I am a Certified Correctional Executive (CCE) through the American Correctional Association and currently serve as the Agency Security Administrator for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services. In this statewide role, I oversee Security Operations, Special Response Teams, Emergency Preparedness, and ACA and PREA compliance, aligning these critical functions through integrated standards and a culture of readiness. My focus is on building systems that are both secure and sustainable—where policy, practice, and people operate in unified alignment.Beyond security operations, I have championed programs that bridge care and accountability. I helped develop and expand the NDCS Hospice Volunteer Program, a nationally recognized initiative that provides compassionate, end-of-life care within correctional settings while fostering personal growth and dignity among participants. This work, grounded in empathy and purpose, earned our team the NDCS 2025 One Team One Vision Award for excellence in collaboration and service to others.My leadership journey also includes directing a federally contracted Immigration Detention Facility with The GEO Group, Inc, where I managed budgets, audits, staffing, and compliance operations with precision and transparency. Earlier in my career, I served as part of an international corrections team rebuilding Iraq’s correctional infrastructure—an experience that shaped my understanding of resilience, cross-cultural collaboration, and systemic reform.I am passionate about advancing the corrections profession through collaboration, innovation, and integrity. My mission is to develop environments where safety, accountability, and human dignity coexist—helping both staff and those in our custody move toward success, stability, and positive change.
