About Eric Spina

I’m the 19th President of the University of Dayton, a top-tier national Catholic research university committed to the common good. My prior experience includes 28-years of teaching, research and leadership at Syracuse University. I began my career at Syracuse as a faculty member in the College of Engineering and Computer Science, then served as dean, and finally vice chancellor and provost for nearly 9 years. I write about the importance of diversity in higher education, the benefits of tuition cost transparency to universities and their stakeholders, my day-to-day life experiences as president of the University of Dayton, and the stories of our students, faculty, and alumni who inspire me. I earned PhD and Master\'s degrees in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Princeton University and a bachelor\'s degree with university honors in mechanical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.Native son of Buffalo, NY
