About Eric Sidewater
I have a passion for uncovering and creating competitive advantages through novel strategies. I founded Sixers Science, an NBA Investigate Analytics website told through the lens of the Philadelphia 76ers. I was fortunate enough to become a credentialed member of Sixers Media in 2017/2018.After exploring the media landscape, I became fascinated with the topic of predictive models - a new love for math was born through the epiphany of how many ways it can be manipulated and still have informative characteristics. My dad worked with a computerized betting syndicate that handicapped and bet horse races semi-autonomously - probing questions into this high-level industry sparked novel insights that could be applicable to basketball strategy. I created the most accurate NFL publicly available free agent contract projections in 2025, as well as my own statistic (called OASIS - opponent adjusted situational impact score) and website. My strongest tool is staying cognizant of my own blind spots and biases, so I can make more effective decisions. I\'m improving my skills with data science including ML Algorithms, Probability Theory & some coding involving Python, data scraping, Advanced Excel, and working with APIs.
