About Eric Ruhstorfer
Years ago my grandfather sat me in front of a computer and said “Eric, you better learn about computers now because this is the future.” With that my love of tech was born. I am a US Army Veteran of 16 years who worked as a Healthcare Specialist, Licensed Practical Nurse, and Program Manager while serving in the military. I spent the last 2 years in the food production and retail industry but always held a strong interest in the Information Technology industry and decided it was time to pursue a professional career in IT. I am seeking entry level opportunities in areas including IT Specialist, Help Desk, Desktop Support, Service Desk or Technical Support. Currently I attend ACI Learning for the Computer User Support Specialist (CUSS) program in Information Technology and Cyber Security. Courses include PeopleCert ITIL 4 Foundation, CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security+. I completed my PeopleCert ITIL Foundations certification and (ISC)2 Cybersecurity Certified certification in September 2022. And I plan to secure CompTIA A+, and Network+ by the end of October 2022, and Security+ by November 2022. After that I will finish off my SNOW certification and AWS Cloud Practitioner certification while I continue on my career search journey. I have a home lab set up so I can learn even more. Currently I am exploring VMWare ESXi, and Proxmox VM solutions to run virtual instances of Windows, Linux, and virtualized network equipment within my own home. I also set up a pfSense firewall, with an IDS/IPS, as well as segregated my network with multiple VLANs. The next project I am working on is creating a portable WiFi box with a VPN that will allow me to tunnel into my home network while remaining secure even on public WiFi.
