About Eric Post
I’m a sports medicine researcher and injury epidemiologist focused on protecting athlete health through real-world data, injury surveillance systems, and applied science. As Manager of Sports Medicine Research at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, I lead multidisciplinary teams responsible for designing and implementing large-scale injury and illness surveillance systems—used to support over 1,800 Team USA athletes across competition days at the 2023 Pan American Games, 2024 Youth Olympic Games, and 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games. I’ve also helped align data collection and reporting protocols with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to advance global surveillance. With 90+ peer-reviewed publications and more than 3,200 citations, my academic and scientific background spans injury epidemiology, sport specialization, and applied public health. I’ve secured over in competitive funding, led research projects in pediatric, para, and women’s health, and contributed to initiatives like the modification of the SCAT6 for athletes who use wheelchairs.Outside of research, I serve on the Board of Directors for the Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine (PRiSM) Society and co-host the Pediatric Sports Lab podcast, where we highlight emerging research in pediatric sports medicine. I’m particularly interested in projects that apply real-world evidence to reduce injury burden, support athlete readiness, and inform system-level health decisions in sport and performance environments.
