About Eric Olshan

Eric Olshan is a partner at McGuireWoods and a member of the Government Investigations and White Collar Litigation department. He is a seasoned litigator, having tried more than two dozen cases to verdict, including white collar trials in federal districts across the country. Mr. Olshan previously served as the United States Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He was nominated by President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. and unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate. As United States Attorney, Mr. Olshan was the senior-most federal law enforcement officer for a district spanning 25 counties and serving over 3 million people. He supervised an office of over 130 prosecutors, civil litigators, and professional staff and was responsible for overseeing all criminal and civil cases in which the United States was a party. Prior to his appointment as United States Attorney, Mr. Olshan served as a federal prosecutor for over 15 years, first as a corruption prosecutor in the Public Integrity Section based in Washington, D.C, and later as a white-collar Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of Pennsylvania. Mr. Olshan has practiced in over a dozen federal district courts and has tried over two dozen cases on behalf of the United States, including jury trials in the Western District of Pennsylvania, Eastern District of Virginia, Middle District of Florida, Middle District of Alabama, District of Nevada, Northern District of West Virginia, and District of Columbia Superior Court. He has also handled appeals in the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Eleventh Circuits. Mr. Olshan has received numerous awards for his work, including the Attorney General’s David Margolis Award for Exceptional Service (the Department\'s highest honor) and the John Marshall Award for Trial of Litigation (the Department’s highest award specific to trial practice). Mr. Olshan joined the Department of Justice through the Attorney General\'s Honors Program following a clerkship on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
