About Eric Olsen

I\'m a senior-level hardware and FPGA/Electrical engineer with a proven track record of building complex systems from the ground up. With over two decades of hands-on experience, I bring a rare combination of deep technical expertise, cross-disciplinary versatility, and a practical mindset that consistently delivers results in demanding engineering environments. My core strengths lie in architecting and implementing advanced digital systems using FPGAs, from high-performance RTL design to full simulation and integration. I\'m fluent across multiple toolchains including Quartus, Vivado, QuestaSim, and ModelSim, and I work comfortably in both Verilog and VHDL. I’ve designed everything from neural brain stimulators to large-scale modular computation engines, and I’m just as comfortable writing embedded C for ARM cores as I am building test benches or designing custom hardware at the board level.Recent roles include being the chief digital architect for a 64-channel closed-loop brain neurostimulation device, where I developed all RTL for three low-power FPGAs, wrote test vector and LUT generators in VC++, and produced full design and API documentation. At ASML I was responsible for integrating complex algorithmic models using MATLAB, Simulink, and HDL Coder, bridging the gap between high-level design and real-world FPGA deployment. In addition to deep technical execution, for teams needing more of my abilities, I bring product strategy instincts, a strong track record in invention, and extensive experience developing and authoring IP. With firsthand experience writing successful patent applications, I understand how to protect innovation while driving it forward. I thrive in environments that demand creativity, precision, and end-to-end ownership. Whether the challenge is developing an FPGA-based hardware accelerator, optimizing signal processing pipelines, mentoring technical teams, or charting a product path from concept to IP-protected prototype, I bring both the tools and the mindset to push technical boundaries forward.
