ABOUT ERIC MATHISON
Founder, Tiller Labs — an AI-guided advance care planning company focused on helping people articulate their values and translate them into meaningful guidance for future medical decisions.I’m an assistant professor of philosophy at the University of Toronto Scarborough (currently on leave), where I research and teach bioethics. I also work as an ethics consultant with healthcare leaders, clinicians, patients, and families to support ethically grounded decision-making in complex clinical contexts.My academic work focuses on clinical ethics, values-based medicine, assisted dying, and emerging technologies, and has been published in leading bioethics journals and discussed in outlets including The New York Times. I previously completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine and a clinical ethics residency at William Osler Health System. I hold a PhD in philosophy from the University of Toronto and am a certified healthcare ethics consultant (HEC-C).
