About Eric J. Guilbeau

Dr. Guilbeau is currently Professor Emeritus of Biomedical Engineering and the Watson Eminent Scholar Chair at Louisiana Tech University. Prior to retirement, he was the Director of the Biomedical Engineering Program and Director of the Center for Biomedical Engineering and Rehabilitation Science at Louisiana Tech. He is the Founding President and CEO of Biovations Engineering, LLC. Biovations™ has a platform technology for wide-spread, point-of- care, genetic mutation detection. Prior to joining the faculty at Louisiana Tech, he was the Olin Professor of Bioengineering at Arizona State University (ASU). He is currently Professor Emeritus at ASU. He was the Founding Chair of the Harrington Department of Bioengineering at ASU and also served as Chair of ASU’s Department of Chemical, Bio & Materials Engineering. He is a member of the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering. He is past President of the Biomedical Engineering Society. He helped establish the National Council of Chairs of Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering Programs and has served as its chair. He is a past chair of the Academic Council of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering. He also organized the program for the 1995 Annual Meeting of the Biomedical Engineering Division of the American Society of Engineering Education and was chair of the ASEE/BED Division in 1996/97. His research experience includes contributions in the areas of biosensor development, biotransport phenomena, systems analysis and simulation of physiological systems with applications in diabetes and cardiovascular disease and more recently applied biotechnology.Specialties: Thermoelectric detection of biological events, Biomedical Engineering Education, microfluidics, transport phenomena, heat transfer, modeling and simulation of biological systems, biosensors
