About Eric Garcia
Eric Garcia is a Television Showrunner and award-winning Creator, Writer, and Executive Producer. He is the Creator, Executive Producer, and Showrunner of the Emmy Award-winning, live-action series \"Supah Ninjas\" starring George Takei and Randall Park for Nickelodeon. The series is the #1 show in its time period for boys and won him a Writers Guild of America Award for Best Children’s Series. Eric is also the Emmy-nominated Executive Producer and Showrunner of the acclaimed adult action series \"Afro Samurai\" and its sequel \"Afro Samurai: Resurrection\" starring Samuel L. Jackson, Lucy Liu, and Ron Perlman for Spike TV. The series spawned a hit Namco video game, Tor graphic novel series, and made history as the first animé to win a Primetime Emmy Award. His feature credits include the adaptation of \"My Neighbors the Yamadas\" for Disney/Studio Ghibli. He is currently writing two pilots for Amazon, an original feature for Gaumont, and \"Batman Ninja,\" a spectacular new animé film for Warner Bros. coming in 2018. Previously, Eric was a Writer for Walt Disney Television Animation where he worked on Disney’s breakout hit series \"Recess,\" the subsequent hit film \"Recess: School’s Out,\" and the top-rated \"Lloyd In Space.\" In addition, Eric worked for Studio Ghibli and Buena Vista Home Entertainment on the adaptations of Miyazaki’s beloved masterpieces \"Kiki’s Delivery Service\" and \"Laputa: Castle in the Sky.\" Eric is an alum of Dickison College and the Writers Guild of America’s Showrunner Training Program. He sits on the WGA Diversity Advisory Group, where he developed the curriculum for the Writers Access Project and Staff Writer Bootcamp. He has been invited to speak at numerous universities including Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, Northwestern, and the University of Hawaii as well as the Writers Guild of America and Producers Guild of America.
