About Eric Espinoza
Eric Espinoza was born and raised on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City. As the son of a political refugee from Chile and a judge who was elected after a long history of activism, he was brought up with an understanding and respect for the importance of social justice struggles. In communities ranging from Washington Heights, the Bronx, Newark NJ and Miami FL, to low-income populations in Chile and the Dominican Republic, he has learned to put people of diverse backgrounds facing stressful situations at ease, assuring them that he is both a respectful ally and willing friend.Eric currently works at Capital One as part of a Strategy team housed within its External Affairs department that focuses on delivering initiatives, programs, and events that enhance the company’s social impact. Eric was previously the Director of Research & Advocacy at Neighborhood Trust Financial Partners where he worked to distill direct service insights into content that policy allies could use to effect change on behalf of LMI workers across the country. Eric has 4 total years of Financial Coaching experience and worked with his clients to help them achieve economic stability and mobility through individualized personal financial coaching and workshops. Eric arrived at Neighborhood Trust with experience in public interest and direct service - first as a Worker Justice Fellow with the Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center (now known as Americans for Immigrant Justice) in Miami, and as a Financial Fellow with The Financial Clinic (now known as Change Machine) in New York. He earned his BA and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Dartmouth College as a double major in Geography and Latin American Latino and Caribbean Studies. His commitment to service has led him to have a profound dedication to Financial Empowerment work. He is a proud product of New York City’s public school system and has become increasingly interested in the idea of formally introducing a financial education curriculum into New York City high schools.
