I manage the Dorr-Oliver FluoSolids® technology at TechnipEnergies in Claremont, California. For over 20 years with Technip (in its various corporate incarnations), I have specialized in process engineering and fluidized bed technology for metallurgical, minerals, waste treatment, and other applications. In my current role, I am responsible for technology leadership and expertise in fluidized bed technology for proposals, projects, engineering studies, technology development, and R&D programs.Prior to my time with technip, I worked at Hazen Research in Golden, Colorado in the area of pyrometallurgical and thermal processing research and development.I have wide range of experience in process engineering and design, process technology research and development, technology management, process simulation (METSIM and HSC), pyrometallurgical equipment design, pilot and demonstration plant design and operations, and commercial plant commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting.Some of my most memorable work includes:Process engineering and start-up of the fluid bed nickel ore roasters at Koniambo Nickel in New Caledonia.Process design and start-up of a large fluid bed copper concentrate roaster for KGHM in Poland.Consulting all over the world at various fluidized bed roasters, dryers, calciners, and sludge incinerators.Setting up a dedicated fluidized bed test unit and Mossbauer spectrometer for the Iron Carbide process at TechnipEnergies laboratory in Weymouth, MA.Keywords: Process engineering, extractive metallurgy, pyrometallurgy, fluidized bed technology, roasting, calcining, drying, pyrolysis, gasification, combustion, incineration, waste treatment, process simulation, research and development.
