About Eric D. White
I started my law enforcement career path in July,1998 for the Utah Highway Patrol assigned to Davis County as a State Trooper. I spent 2 of those years in investigations as an Agent for the Utah Department of Public Safety, State Bureau of Investigations and 2 years as rank of Corporal for the Utah Highway Patrol. In 2012, I decided to take on a different career path and accepted a position as an Investigator with the Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division under the Utah State Tax Commission. I was assigned to the Special Operations Unit where my main focus was auto theft, motor vehicle fraud, identifying and locating “chop shops”, and enforcing other various motor vehicle related crimes. After 2 years, I then transferred to the Dealer Compliance section where I was assigned to regulate the new and used motor vehicle industry. My main focus was working a steady case load and enforcing motor vehicle related crimes in the motor vehicle industry. I was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2016 over the Northern Dealer Compliance section before retiring with the State of Utah after 21 years in 2019. In September 2019, I started a new job with the Utah Transit Authority as police officer until September 2020 when I was hired back with the State of Utah again with the Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division where I am currently employed. I was then promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2022 and in December 2024, I was asked by the Executive Director of the Tax Commission to serve as the Interim Senior Director of Enforcement. In May 2025, I was then appointed as Chief Senior Director over the Enforcement section. During my law enforcement career, I also worked part-time as a Farmington Police Officer for 19 years assigned to Lagoon Amusement Park during the operational summer months. During my tenure with the Utah Highway Patrol, I served a total of 6 years on the Utah Highway Patrol Association Board of Directors as a Region 3 Representative, Second Vice, First Vice, and then UHPA President from 20••••11. I also served on the Utah Highway Patrol Honor Guard for 10 years, Public Information and Education officer in Davis County for 11 years, and Davis County Safe Kids Coalition member for 10 years. I also served as a Nationally Certified Car Seat Passenger Safety Technician for the State of Utah. I served as a passed instructor for 4 years with the Utah Safety Council under the Alive@25 Defensive Driving Course program in Salt Lake City, Utah.
