About Eric Cannon
H. Eric Cannon, PharmD, FAMCP, is Chief Pharmacy Benefits Officer for SelectHealth, Salt Lake City, Utah. He has responsibility for SelectHealth Pharmacy Services and Scripius, a full-service pharmacy benefit management group. Dr. Cannon has worked in pharmacy for over thirty years, receiving his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Idaho State University. He has a diverse range of experience in hospital, retail, long-term care, and specialty pharmacy settings. He is an active member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy and has served on its board of directors. Dr. Cannon was awarded the Fellow of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy recognition and was awarded the 2013 Professional Achievement Award by Idaho State University. He served on the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies Committee, Preventing Medication Errors. He currently serves as an Advisor to Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) on both the Clinical Effectiveness and Decision Science Advisory Panel and the Payer Forum. In addition, Dr. Cannon makes frequent presentations to employers, brokers, and healthcare providers on pharmaceutical trends and pharmaceutical management techniques. He has published numerous articles and research studies in the peer-reviewed literature. His current passion and efforts are to expand the Scripius brand and share its value with health plans and employers. Dr. Cannon is adjunct faculty at Idaho State University, College of Pharmacy and the University of Utah College of Pharmacy. He serves on the Editorial Board for the American Journal of Managed Care and acts as a peer reviewer for several other pharmacy journals.
