Design and fabricate unique mounts for fragile and complicated works that provide safe and stable structural support for a wide variety of objects and artworks such as sculptures,furniture, ceramics, paintings, clothing, costumes, and jewelry for exhibition, storage, and transport.Maintain a working metal shop, including but not limited to tool maintenance, inventory upkeep, compressed gas tank operations.Knowledge of preventative conservation protocols, applications, chemicals and materials (ie; Oddy tested, archival, non-invasive or reversible)Troubleshoot and problem solve unique installation problems and situations.Work with living artists or artist foundations to design, propose, and implement artists’ installations making structural and aesthetic decisions with the artist/foundation, department managers, and curatorial staff.Work with conservation to repair, amend, intervene on objects in the museum collection.
