ABOUT ERECA HASSELL

As a creative arts and cultural leader, I\'ve spearheaded initiatives at Pacific Opera that have elevated our creative output and expanded our reach. At the heart of my leadership lies a commitment to collaboration and innovation. I have developed an international co-production model that has generated new revenues and premiered successful new Canadian operas such as Missing and Flight of the Hummingbird to audiences nationwide. This collaborative spirit has also seen the realization of ambitious projects, such as a notable five company cross-Canada tour of La Traviata, and a production rental program which has brought over one dozen productions to audiences in twenty cities across North America. Amidst the challenges of the pandemic, I reimagined our operations, producing groundbreaking operas for film, livestream concerts, and intimate screen performances. These ventures not only pushed the boundaries of our artform but also provided vital support for artists during uncertain times. Locally, I foster strategic partnerships with the region’s most impactful cultural organizations and collaborate with artists and community leaders to develop unique creative programming and community projects. The $1M renovation of Pacific Opera\'s Baumann Centre which I led in 2015, transformed the Centre into a dynamic, multi-purpose space for artistic creation, public engagement, and artist development. This project reflects our commitment to creating dynamic spaces that contribute to the vibrancy of our local arts community. To cultivate future leadership in the opera sector, I mentor emerging artists, arts administrators, and production artists through Pacific Opera\'s Artist in Residence, BIPOC Arts Leadership, and Women in Musical Leadership programs, expanding their artistic practice and developing leaders in opera and theatre. My volunteerism extends to serving on the BC Alliance for Arts + Culture board, where I led a successful executive search and promoted diversity in leadership. Currently pursuing an MA in Leadership, I\'m excited about the fresh perspectives and strategies it will offer as I continue to drive positive change in our thriving arts ecosystem. And when I\'m not immersed in the world of opera, you\'ll find me exploring the picturesque landscapes of Deep Cove, drawing inspiration from the beauty of the wild west coast alongside my husband and family.
