The Surat Metro Rail Project is a transformative mass rapid transit system (MRTS) under construction in Surat, Gujarat, aimed at enhancing urban mobility and connectivity in one of India’s fastest-growing cities. Managed by the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC). Corridor 1 (Diamond Route, Sarthana to Dream City): 21.61 km, including 15.14 km elevated and 6.47 km underground, with 20 stations (14 elevated, 6 underground). This corridor connects the diamond hub of Varachha to the upcoming global diamond trading hub, Dream City.The underground section of Corridor 1 includes a 7.02 km stretch between Kapodra Ramp and Chowk Bazar, featuring six underground stations: Kapodra, Labheshwar Chowk, Central Warehouse, Surat Railway Station, Maskati Hospital, and Chowk Bazar. The segment from Kapodra Ramp to Surat Railway Station (3.46 km, Package CS2/UG1) specifically includes the three stations of interest—Kapodra, Labheshwar Chowk, and Central Warehouse—and is a critical part of the metro’s urban core connectivity.
