About Ephrem Tesfaye Woldegiorgis
I am a development and business professional, specializing in access to finance and investment, value chain analysis, market linkages, and rural development in developing countries. For almost two decades, I worked in the agriculture and rural development industry across public, private, non-profit sectors in Ethiopia. Because over 70% of people in Africa live in rural areas, where poverty is often more severe, I realized that agriculture is key to poverty alleviation on the continent. In order to realize this goal, I am pursuing an MA in international development with a concentration in agriculture, rural development, and local rural institutions. I am building skills in policy analysis, program design and implementation, and data analytics. Moving forward, I intend to pursue a career in agribusiness development and economic empowerment to help African smallholder households move out of poverty.
