ABOUT EMILY SHEPHERDSON
Emily is a doctoral student in Aerospace Engineering at Ryerson University. Her research is focused on advancing relative navigation using camera-based sensors and machine learning for use in on-orbit servicing and assembly of large space structures, which is a technology needed to get to Mars. Emily graduated from Queen\'s University in 2010 with a BASc in Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering. Following her undergraduate degree she gained versatile career experience as a Project Manager for a Mechanical contractor and in Supply Network Operations at Procter and Gamble. Following her PhD, Emily\'s dream is to become an astronaut. Ultimately, she wants to focus her career on the exploration of space by developing new and innovative technologies that will advance space exploration capabilities. Emily feels very strongly about encouraging women to join STEM to achieve fulfilling careers and help drive equality in the workforce.
