Merced, CA, US

As a part of my capstone project for my last year at the University of California Merced, I am supporting the Battery Workforce Challenge in building a EV Battery from scratch for the Electric Ram ProMaster van. I am specifically part of the Thermal Team, working on developing the Thermal Cooling System for the EV Battery Pack.

ABOUT EDUARDO RODRIGUEZ LOPEZ

I am Eduardo Rodriguez Lopez, a Mechanical Engineering student at UC Merced (Aerospace emphasis, graduating Fall 2025) with hands-on experience in design, manufacturing, and testing through internships at Lockheed Martin Space, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, and John Deere. My journey has given me the chance to:Improve aerospace manufacturing operations by creating automated workflows and digital tools, reducing project delays by 25+ days per drawing and generating over $2.25M in cost savings annually.Optimize composite machining processes at MFC, enhancing reliability with tighter tolerances and cross-functional collaboration.Redesign components at John Deere using GD & T and FEA, cutting failure rates and costs by 25% while improving operator cab design by 54% more space.Lead the Thermal Team for the DOE Battery Workforce Challenge, designing and simulating cooling systems for EV battery packs.Beyond technical skills (PTC Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, GD & T, FEA, MATLAB, SAP, Power Automate), I approach engineering like I approach life: as a strategic game of chess, thinking several moves ahead, weighing risks, and always building toward long-term impact.I am especially motivated by opportunities in aerospace, defense, automotive, and advanced manufacturing, where I can apply design, manufacturing, and testing expertise to solve complex problems and contribute to missions that matter. My mission: use engineering to define what’s possible, support my family, and open doors for others along the way.
