About Emrah Yilgen

Hi. My name is Emrah. Thank you for visiting my profile. I am a computer science student at Rutgers University New Brunswick. I have had successful careers in the military, music education and as a freelance musician. I am a lifelong learner and curious person who is always looking for the next thing to do in life. This curiosity guided me through different careers and eventually took me to my last passion, which is technology in general. My love for mathematics nodded me towards computer science and here I am about to graduate form Rutgers with a B.S. in Comp Sci. I developed interests in programming, computer systems, networks, and cybersecurity during my studies at Rutgers. I am enjoying my school work, also working on my pet projects such as my home lab for security and network operations, programming projects in Java, C and Python; preparation for tech certifications such as Network+ Security+ in my free time. I am currently looking for a full time position in Cybersecurity and/or Software Development fields. My midterm goal is to work in a DevSecOps team but also planning to work in an SOC team before that. I have leadership experience from my career in the army as a sergeant, from music as a band leader and from being a teacher. Some other things about myself are I play saxophone professionally and am running a music teaching business currently.
