ABOUT EMMY MARTIN
I\'m a journalist based in Washington, D.C, covering higher education and technology at The Chronicle of Higher Education. I previously reported for the Minnesota Star Tribune, where my coverage spanned prisons, health care, artificial intelligence, cannabis and immigration. I\'ve worked at POLITICO, interning during the 2024 presidential election and Donald Trump’s return to the White House, and for The News & Observer, where I covered politics and higher education as an intern and correspondent. I also interned with The Dallas Morning News and am an alum of the 2024 Politico Journalism Institute. A graduate of UNC–Chapel Hill, I led The Daily Tar Heel as editor-in-chief during the 2023–24 academic year, overseeing award-winning coverage of local politics, campus protests and public safety, including a fatal shooting.
