About Emmylou Manwill
Emmylou is a passionate public interest lawyer and immigration attorney who is most fulfilled when helping immigrant clients find their pathways to permanence in the U.S. She utilizes a client-centered and trauma-informed approach to empower clients as she helps navigate them through systemic barriers and the often confusing U.S. immigration system. Emmylou is currently a Staff Attorney in the Immigration Unit at MetroWest Legal Services, where she primarily represents Afghans in pathways to permanence like asylum and Special Immigrant Visas. She also helps clients maintain lawful status and work authorization through the process. Emmylou is particularly passionate about working with immigrant survivors of trauma, persecution, and gender-based violence including sexual violence, domestic violence, reproductive coercion, and human trafficking. She has previous hearing and trial experience in high conflict family law cases involving custody and restraining orders.Emmylou is a graduate of Boston University School of Law in 2020 with a Juris Doctorate and a Graduate Certificate in Women\'s, Gender & Sexuality Studies. She is licensed as an attorney in Massachusetts.
