ABOUT EMMETT STEVENSON
Hello, my name is Emmett. I am a third-year Dean’s List student at Dalhousie University, pursuing a double major in Classics and International Development, along with a minor in History. My academic interests include nonprofit management, policy, diplomacy, theology, and Ancient Rome. Currently, I am pursuing my interest in the nonprofit sector through Northwestern\'s Kellogg school of management, studying nonprofit management and board governance to shape my executive leadership. Combined with what I have learned through the Dalhousie Leadership Academy, I have cultivated effective leadership through professional, and personal leadership lessons. I am passionate about preserving Arctic ecosystems, which is demonstrated through my role as Founder and President of the Dalhousie Arctic Society, a student organization with over 60 members and 18 executives. Additionally, I am the Founding Editor-in-Chief of Àrktos, our upcoming peer-reviewed journal focused on Arctic, Subarctic, Antarctic, and Tundra biomes research. Our goal is to bring greater awareness to climate and ecological disruption, and to give undergraduate and early graduate students a platform to publish their work alongside established scholars. I am further strengthening this area of leadership and research through UN sustainability, Key Biodiversity Areas (KBA), and IUCN certifications. I am also gaining hands on experience with advanced secure remote access and storage networks with Jentü, and learning how this cutting edge technology supports high performance, cost efficient, and secure data environments. Working directly under the CEO, and will later learn architectural principles through guided implementation, and manage my own test server, using it to develop, optimize, and troubleshoot system configurations firsthand while gaining high level strategic insights. In the coming years, I plan to write on cultural diplomacy in the modern and ancient worlds, Arctic sustainability policy, and Roman architecture, blending my academic interests with a broader commitment to interdisciplinary research and public scholarship.
