ABOUT EMMANUEL TEITELBAUM

I am a political scientist with expertise in comparative politics, political economy, development studies, labor standards, class politics and the future of work. I also have a strong interest in data science and teach courses on data visualization and research methods. Currently I serve as the director of the Elliott School\'s Masters of Arts in International Affairs (MAIA) program. I am also the co-founder and co-director of the School\'s Data Literacy Initiative and its Data Analytics for Policy Professionals executive education program. I am also a co-managing editor of the Journal of Development Studies.My academic writings have appeared in leading journals such as the American Journal of Political Science, World Politics, Comparative Political Studies, Political Research Quarterly, Politics and Society, and the Journal of Development Studies. My first book, Managing Dissent: Democracy and Industrial Conflict in Post-Reform South Asia was published by Cornell University Press and explored the dynamics of state-labor relations and industrial conflict in South Asia. My research has received support from the Woodrow Wilson Center, the United States Institute of Peace, the National Science Foundation, the Fulbright Foundation and the Social Science Research Council. My dissertation received the 2007 Gabriel Almond Award for Best Dissertation in Comparative Politics.While I love being a professor, my professional life is not entirely confined to the ivory tower. I love to engage policy-relevant questions and projects when given the opportunity. In the past I have done work for the U.S. Department of Labor and the World Bank. I also enjoy tutoring and making instructional videos.
