Position: CSSD In-ChargeDepartment: Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD)Reports To: OT Manager / Nursing Superintendent / Hospital AdministratorRole Summary:The CSSD In-Charge is responsible for the overall management, supervision, and quality control of sterilization services within the hospital. The role ensures that all surgical instruments, medical devices, and linen are properly cleaned, disinfected, sterilized, stored, and distributed in accordance with hospital protocols and regulatory standards such as WHO, CDC, NABH, and infection control guidelines.Key Responsibilities:Supervise daily CSSD operations including decontamination, packing, sterilization, and distribution.Ensure proper functioning and validation of sterilization equipment (Autoclave, ETO, Plasma Sterilizer, Washer Disinfector).Maintain sterilization records, biological indicators (BI), chemical indicators (CI), and logbooks.Monitor adherence to infection control policies and aseptic techniques.Conduct staff training and competency assessment.Coordinate with OT, ICU, and other departments for instrument supply.Ensure preventive maintenance and calibration of CSSD equipment.Maintain inventory control of instruments and consumables.Ensure compliance with NABH / ISO / hospital accreditation standards.Handle audits and documentation requirements.Required Qualification & Experience:Diploma / Degree in OT Technology / CSSD / Nursing.Minimum 2–5 years experience in hospital CSSD.Strong knowledge of sterilization standards and infection control practices.
