I hold the vision at Digital Unite. I identify people and organisations we can learn from and partner with. I instigate and nourish collaborations. I think about new products we can design and audiences we can engage with. I build and interrogate business case and financial planning around digital inclusion, including best use of funding opportunities. I am always mindful of evidence and of impact, about the economic case for digital inclusion and about defining digital social value. I foster a culture of openness, diligence and a commitment to – and genuine passion for – brilliant public service.Over the last 3 years, I have:• Re-platformed our Digital Champions Network on to a SaaS solution that allows scale, complexity and nuance for Champions, their projects and the organisations they work or volunteer for.• Overseen the creation of a new peer-to-peer digital skills training network for people with learning disabilities, working with Mencap and Ufi Trust• Created the Inspire digital inclusion training product. Used by public and private sector to change workforce behaviours towards, and understanding of, digital inclusion as a whole-organisation imperative. Inspire is proven to support more inclusive digital service design, digital service take up and digital customer engagement. Enhances workplace peer support, and capacity to engage with and serve potentially excluded digital service users.• Served on the Community Board of the Digital Poverty Alliance https://digitalpovertyalliance.org/ and on its National Delivery Committee. • Accelerated support to intermediary organisations delivering digital inclusion in the third sector throughout the pandemic, securing NLCF funding and reaching 3m digitally excluded people

ABOUT EMMA WESTON

I am proud to lead one of the most innovative digital inclusion organisations in the UK. We work with public, third sector and private organisations to influence digital inclusion policy and practice. We develop and deliver creative, impactful learning and training for them so that they can embed digital inclusion and essential digital skills in their workplaces and cascade them to their customers and service users.I believe everyone who is digitally included has a responsibility to champion it for those that aren’t. That can be giving time or thought to their digital needs, sharing knowledge and skills, building their confidence and curiosity. I also believe that organisations of all shapes and sizes and across all sectors have a role to play in encouraging, supporting and sustaining these champion behaviours.
