About Emma Sletteland
As the Director of Standards, Certification, and Training at AIRC: The Association for International Enrollment Management, Emma is responsible for direction and execution of core AIRC functions including standards of best practice, agency certification, and training and professional development offerings for the international enrollment management (IEM) field. Emma has more than a decade of experience in international education, with a background spanning both the institutional and agency sides of the field, and a strong commitment to advancing ethical IEM practices. Prior to joining AIRC, Emma served as Marketing Manager for North America at IDP Education, a global international recruitment organization and AIRC-certified agency. In this role, she led integrated marketing, thought leadership, and stakeholder engagement initiatives across the United States and Canada, supporting partnerships, sector advocacy, and strategic growth. Previous to this, Emma worked at the University of Colorado Denver, where she served as International Recruitment and Enrollment Coordinator and previously as Program Coordinator in the Office of International Affairs. In these roles, she led international recruitment outreach as the institution’s primary “road warrior,” managed relationships with education agents, and supported campus internationalization initiatives. Emma has been actively engaged with AIRC throughout her career, contributing to the organization as an external reviewer, annual conference presenter, ISREP certificate holder, and committee member. She holds a Master of Science in Marketing and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of Colorado Denver. A dual citizen of the US and Sweden, her international experiences include studying in France and Morocco and teaching English in Japan. These experiences continue to shape her commitment to expanding access to international education. Based in Denver, Colorado, Emma enjoys teaching and practicing yoga, hiking, and skiing in the Rocky Mountains, and is always planning her next international adventure.
