About Emma Herren

I’m an M.S. candidate in the Cell & Molecular Biology program at Colorado State University, contributing to NASA’s CIPHER project by researching spaceflight-specific factors that influence human health and omics, particularly changes in telomere length and telomerase activity. My thesis work is investigating hibernation as a potential radioprotectant for long-duration missions using the 13-lined ground squirrel model. I aim to deepen our understanding of spaceflight biology and apply those insights to protect astronaut health and expand biomedical possibilities on Earth.
