ABOUT EMMA GILLIES
I\'m an ecologist with ESSA, where I focus on the science and policy underpinning climate change adaptation and aquatic ecosystem health. Prior to consulting, my work experience included roles in government, journalism, and research. I hold an MSc degree from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada), where I studied mercury pollution and marine ecology in the Arctic, and a BSc degree in environmental biology from McGill University (Montreal, Canada). My interests are varied yet intersecting. As an ecologist and interdisciplinary researcher, I use a range of methods (from ecosystem modelling to interviews) to better understand and inform decision-making around climate change, aquatic ecosystems, and pollution. I also enjoy communicating science and sharing stories about socio-ecological resilience.
