ABOUT EMMA DIXON

In my day job, I\'m a human rights & public law barrister with a passion for discrimination law. I get a lot of pleasure from using my knowledge and wisdom in this area to help clients better to understand equality and diversity. I\'m particularly interested in: sex, gender and trans rights (including the rights of people with diverse sexual orientations (including ace people), gender identities (including non-binary people and others), and family structures (including those practising ENM and polyamory); religion, spirituality and other philosophical beliefs (including the rights of those not belonging to traditional faith groups but who may identify as spiritual or religious); disability discrimination law and practice; and the intersection between rights of various protected groups. Five years ago I began training and subsequently qualified as an end of life doula with Living Well Dying Well and have gained experience of hospice volunteering in a number of roles both within London and elsewhere. Continuing that journey, I am now training as an Existential & Humanist Chaplain at the New School of Psychotherapy in London and as part of this I\'m also completing a number of placements as a chaplaincy intern (currently in the wonderfully vibrant and diverse chaplaincy department at King\'s College London). Next term I will complete courses enabling me to qualify as a humanist celebrant, which be an important part of my chaplaincy skills and role. I have recently achieved accreditation with the Non-Religious Pastoral Support Network and Humanists UK.
