ABOUT EMMA CUNLIFFE

A personable and purpose‑driven innovation manager with over five years at Tesco PLC, I specialise in identifying, evaluating and scaling emerging technologies that accelerate future growth for Tesco and redefine the retail experience. In my current role as Group Innovation Manager, I work cross‑functionally to drive forward high‑impact innovation projects.My career spans Strategy, Innovation, Online and Rapid Delivery - starting with Tesco’s Online Graduate Scheme, then moving into Project & Programme Management for Tesco Whoosh rapid delivery, before progressing into Group Strategy as a Strategy & Innovation Manager. These roles have equipped me with strong strategic problem‑solving, structured thinking, market scanning, commercial assessment, stakeholder management and the ability to translate complex trends into actionable business opportunities.In my current role, I partner across the organisation to shape long‑term innovation priorities, scout and validate new technologies, develop proof of concepts and influence senior stakeholders on the opportunities and risks shaping the future of retail. I am also the co-founder of Tesco’s One Planet Community, a sustainability network with nearly colleague members, and part of the winning team of the UN Global Compact SDG Accelerator for Young Professionals. I’m passionate about responsible innovation and building a collaborative, curious culture that empowers colleagues to think boldly about the future.
