Working within the West Midlands area to advise on woodland creation, explain the various grants available, and demonstrate how the introduction, improvement and expansion of sustainable, resilient and financially viable woodland can be of benefit an agricultural business and meet landholding expectations. Current flagship woodland creation grants include the Woodland Creation Planning Grant and the England Woodland Creation Offer of which both propose direct commercial future benefits to the landowner, such as timber and wood fuel, as well as indirect commercial benefits such as reducing pollution, improving air and water quality, improving soil drainage and maximising biodiversity. Alongside promoting woodland creation, the Forestry Commission also works to provide financial support and expert advice on a wealth of other forestry related matters that include Woodland Management, Deer Management, Environment Impact Assessments, Felling Licences and Plant Health.
