ABOUT EMLYN TAYLOR FRAES

I am a senior executive and board leader with over 35 years’ experience operating at the intersection of technology, strategy, risk and people in mission-critical environments.I began my career as an apprentice software engineer at Plessey Defence Systems, progressing through senior technical and leadership roles before founding and running a systems and software consultancy for more than a decade. During that period, I advised and delivered for organisations including Marconi, IBM, Westinghouse, BAE Systems and Lockheed Martin, building a strong record of delivering on commitments. In 2008 I joined Lockheed Martin UK on a permanent basis, where I have held a range of senior leadership roles including Chief Engineer, Managing Director and Chair, leading complex international business areas with nine-figure P&L responsibility. My experience spans research and development, leadership, strategic transformation, operational delivery, talent succession, and risk management across defence, aerospace, security and advanced technology domains.Alongside executive leadership, I have served in board and trustee roles, including as a board member of Fly Navy Heritage Trust and UTC Portsmouth, contributing oversight on governance, sustainability, education and heritage preservation.I am recognised for calm judgement under pressure, constructive challenge, and the ability to balance long-term strategic intent with near-term execution. I find deep personal satisfaction where my experience in technology, security, coupled with leading a team can add value.Professional recognition includes Lockheed Martin worldwide corporate awards for influence, advocacy and executive leadership, and I am a Member of the British Computer Society and a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.I am open to Non-Executive Director, advisory board and trustee opportunities, particularly where thoughtful governance, strategic clarity and a deep understanding of technology are critical to success.
