About Emily Schneider
Every organization is its own ecosystem fueled by relationships, both human and organizational. Understanding the dynamics of people, structure, and processes impacting each other is the first step towards developing successful creative solutions. I use this mental framework every time I’m evaluating how I can impact an organization. How can I positively influence this ecosystem? Do I need to find and enhance connections between people and departments? Remove barriers to collaboration and communication to illuminate new ways to work together? Asking this kind of question from a place of curiosity encourages people to share their own new ideas, as well as being more open to new approaches. And whether I’m developing strategy, restructuring staff, or bringing new systems for communication and workflow management online, it’s critical that I’m involving the people around me as active collaborators and supporters of these new directions.I know from experience that aligning people with changes, large or small, gives them a feeling of agency and clarity. By providing opportunities to take ownership of a major change, like developing a cohesive yet distinct visual identity for a business unit that is also compliant and complementary to the overall established brand, my explanations and efforts are more effective. Bringing people together to support a greater mission isn’t just good business. It’s one of my favorite things about going to work.
