ABOUT EMILY BALLARD

Howdy! I am currently an Associate Actuary, part of the Life Forecast team. My role greatly consists of performing forecast model runs, communication between external teams and stakeholders, and explaining results and movements in our forecast and annual budget. I am training to be an LDTI subject matter expert and assist the valuation team in conversion. I take pride in the increase in documentation I have created for many key processes. I also serve as the intern manager and have built out a formal internship program.During my stint on the Life pricing team, I created a Final Expense WL model from scratch, consulted key stakeholders on the risks and results, and provided assumptions based on intricate analysis.In my experience at Citizens, I assisted with the quarterly reserving process, analyzed large data sets to assist in assumption setting for pricing new products, and completed experience studies, automated processes, and created an intern training program and served as their manager. I was also the touchpoint for implementing reinsurance contracts in our IT system; combining intricate validation with programming. In my internship and full time experience at both Rudd & Wisdom and Willis Towers Watson, I have done work mostly in pension retirement benefits. I have completed benefit calculations, worked on special projects for clients, and consulted clients on funding and accounting measures.I am currently sitting for my final FSA exam, ILA201. I am an ASA as of October 2023.I am a 2019 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Mathematics (Actuarial Science) with minors in Business and Risk Management. Hook \'em!In my spare time I enjoy live music, spending time outdoors, and any combination of the two. I am a Green Bay Packers shareholder, love to cook, participate in my book club, practice speaking Spanish, and do puzzles and crosswords.
