ABOUT EMILY PETRUSKA

Recent graduate from the college of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida. I pursued a major in Public Relations and a minor in Event Management because of my interests in not only PR but also digital marketing and social media. I\'m also interested in any experience that will help me improve my interpersonal, communication and leadership skills. My professional goals include working in the music industry in the public relations field as either a publicist for an individual music artist or as a liaison between a music label and an artist or the media. As the publicist for the indie rock band flipturn and the local Gainesville duo Faith & Majesty, I have experience writing press releases, creating an electronic press kit and pitching to tastemakers. I am also interested in opportunities related to touring or live music events as seen with my experiences as an Event Staff Division Head at the Stephen C. O\'Connell Center/Exactech Arena.I\'m a passionate lifestyle, food and music writer in my spare time. I have created written food and lifestyle content for Spoon University and lifestyle, food and music content for my own personal blog under my alias/brand \"kasual kook.\" I currently have a popular \"New Music Friday\" series on my blog where I write about and recommend songs released each week with an accompanying Spotify playlist. I have also created promotional content for Tristen Ikaika\'s ring brand as well as Coconut Cloud, a vegan coffee creamer brand. My relevant coursework includes Corporate Reputation, Public Relations Strategy, PR Writing, PR Campaigns, Entertainment PR, Personal Branding for Communicators, Reporting and Event Promotion.
